[Sleeper] Elisha Greene

Post by Elisha Greene »

Name: Elisha Greene
Nicknames: Eli
Birthday: May 20, 1987
Pronouns/Gender: he/him

Physical Description:

Eli is slightly shorter than average at around 5'5", with an average build. As a cop, he had to keep in shape, and he still mostly does so -- strengthening fat to muscle while still retaining a softness around the edges. He is not cut, he is just fit.

His face is sharp, with a pointed chin and a long nose. His mouth is wry, with a thinner upper lip that leaves him looking somewhat cynical. His eyes are somewhat narrow, darkly lashed and surprisingly feminine in the strength of the rest of his face, and are a muted grey that might seem blue or green depending on the clothing he wears.

Even at thirty-five, his once-black hair is heavily laced through with white strands, and it's much worse if he tries to grow a beard. That will generally come out mostly-grey, sparse, and unattractive. So he doesn't. He generally crops his hair around the ears, just long enough that he can tuck it back out of his face if needs be.

He always tends toward collared shirts and black slacks. Off the job, he might wear jeans, but generally does not; he'd rather something comfortable and a little wider in the leg. His shoes of choice look like loafers and feel like sneakers, in brown or black.

Occupation: Detective (Criminal Investigations), SRPD

Personality:

Something about Eli seems perpetually tired, worn out, drawn thin. Half the time, he's quiet and serious, work focused and intense; the other half, he struggles for humor, his mouth turned up into a black smile, amusement warring with desperation in the back of grey eyes, jabs coming too-quickly to his tongue.

When first he joined the force, it was due to a sense of duty, a desire to help, youthful naivety. Now, he no longer hates his perps, he just is good at finding them, likes the act of putting pieces together, solving the puzzle. Eli is smart, methodical, and educated, but he lacks the fury of conviction, instead working toward finding the guy. Not that he'd admit it.

Without any kind of heavy-handed attempt at getting him out, Eli would just as soon stay in, by himself, drink and watch television and indulge in the black wound in the pit of his stomach. This is why he usually stays at work late, later than he has to, and probably what makes him so damned good at his job.

Backstory:

Eli's youth was spent in an average part of St. Raymond with a loving but not exactly understanding Catholic family. His mother was a hair dresser. His father owned and operated a television repair shop. He played choir boy at a church from a very young age, behaved himself, went away to a fancy private school in New England. He went to Univesity of Chicago on a full scholarship, with the intent to go on to law school and join the office of the DA after graduation. However, he found that he lacked the money and the drive to follow this route, and instead joined the beat as a street cop at the age of twenty-three. He was dutiful, focused, and endowed with a certain blunt honesty that both disarmed and charmed people, making him good on the streets. He was injured several times, and fell in with a young resident student, marrying her when he was twenty-five. His intelligence and education had marked him early to eventually advance to detective -- which he did, at the age of twenty-seven, to both his and his wife's delight.

The work, though, got under his skin, ate into his time. Over the next few years, his marriage started to fall to pieces, both his wife's hospital job and his own fierce dedication to his own work pulling them apart. They've been separated now, thankfully childless, not yet divorced, for several years.
