As you play your characters in Chiaroscuro, you may come across special items that unlock additional abilities on their character sheet, whether by discovery or by purchasing them in the shop with shards. When you are ready to redeem these items on a character, please post here with the form below. A GM will review the intended power, collect the item from the account indicated and grant an achievement on the intended character, showing that the ability is unlocked.

Expertise - 500 Shards - Available in shop - Your character has an exceptional or prodigal talent for a specific mundane skill. When performing this skill (this should be a skill mentioned as part of a character's profile), your character may add +2 to the roll as the result of exemplary talent, skill, or trained ability. This must be specific—it would not be appropriate to declare “sports” but would be appropriate to declare “basketball”. Likewise, "art" would be too broad a category for this skill, but you could declare "painting" or "photography" as a character's specialization.
These upgrades are only purchasable on characters who have completed a Reading and unlocked magic:
Attuned Crystal - 250 Shards - Four types available in shop - Any Querent with at least one point in the relevant element can charge this crystal with energy. When charged, once per thread the Querent can expel this energy to gain +1 to a roll in the relevant element. If a Querent is using a crystal attuned to an element they are not aligned with, they will gain the ability to cast a cantrip with a +1 in that element! However, they are unable to recharge this crystal and must find an appropriate Querent to do it for them.
Minor Glamour - 100 Shards - Available in shop - Exposure to the Empty City has left its mark. This character may now have any number of superficial changes in color relating to their Empty City form, including unnatural hair and eye colors. For any changes that would alter body structure, please see Major Glamour.
Major Glamour - 500 Shards - Available in shop - Exposure to the Empty City has left its mark in a significant way. This Querent’s physical appearance has been changed to more closely resemble their Empty City form, including sharpened teeth, pointed ears, changes in pupil shape, or other changes to the body structure. For changes that are simply chromatic, please see Minor Glamour.
Courtly Glamour - 250 Shards - Available in shop - Exposure to the Empty City has granted the ability to blend in. While this Querent is not using any magic, they will appear completely mundane, including removal of their card mark. However, the activation of any magic dispels the glamour for the rest of the scene.
