Leafy:: so, who is it centering on?
Blue:: How do you mean? (:
Leafy:: the story... who is the mc?
Leafy:: what aspect are you twisting?
Blue:: Raven.
Blue:: Raven is Mordred.
Leafy:: nice
Blue:: And Raven isn't his name.
Blue:: His name is Corbett.
Leafy:: meep. ok
Blue:: Okay, here's how it goes:
Blue:: Corbin => Arthur.
Blue:: Altair => ...omg, it's been so long. His half sister. except in my story, she's his full sister.
Leafy:: morgaine?
Blue:: yes.
Leafy:: ok.
Blue:: or morgause? which is which?
Blue:: Whatever
Leafy:: They're both...
Blue:: I used to read so much Mary Stewart. gnnnaaar.
Leafy:: Morgause is the mother of Agravaine, Gareth, Gawaine, and Gaheris
Blue:: ah. okay.
Blue:: Well, then there's Corbett {pseudonom: Raven} who's the son of Altair/Corbin.
Leafy:: *eats Gareth*
Blue:: HIs past is messed up.
Leafy:: Gareth... you should make a really hot gareth marry an annonymous noblewoman named Aisling. Yeah. Definately...
Leafy:: yeah...
Blue:: ::patpat.::
Leafy:: *g*
Blue:: Perhaps there will be mention.
Leafy:: *giggles madly*
Leafy:: He's the youngest and the hottest one.
Blue:: ANYWAY. Corbin, the king, is married to....Gah, I forget her name. Liwaine, perhaps?
Blue:: Lithwaine?
Blue:: Something.
Blue:: ::goes backwards.::
Blue:: I have to find my timeline, man.
Blue:: Okay, so, first Altair is born.
Blue:: then Corbin is born.
Blue:: Altair's sent away to be schooled by the church; Corbin is kept home to study there.
Leafy:: ok
Blue:: Altair is EVIL. inherently so.
Leafy:: mmmmmm.
Blue:: She's fickle, powerhungry, has little respect for life.
Blue:: They both grow wings [which is good, becuase in this world you HAVE to have wings to be king/queen]
Blue:: But Altair wants more power, she digs up some old books on blood magic.
Blue:: Unfortunately, she's also under watchful eyes;
Leafy:: oooo
Blue:: she's spurned by a man she's interested in, performs human sacrifice to get him to fall in love with her, gets CAUGHT,
Blue:: and as punishment her wings are chopped off. JOY!
Blue:: So now she can NEVER be queen.
Leafy:: eeeeek!!
Blue:: ::grin. ::
Blue:: But then? She disappears.
Blue:: Gone. People assume she's fled the country in shame.
Blue:: Corbin grows up, becomes king [and a...fairly good king, I guess].
Blue:: Ends up engaged to Lithwaine [or whatever her name is]
Blue:: But a few nights before his actual wedding, there's a HUGE PARTY.
Blue:: And everyone gets drunk, of course.
Blue:: And he ends up in bed with this beautiful girl who goes by the name of "Two-Crescent"
Leafy:: oooooooooooooooo
Leafy:: and then Raven is born?
Blue:: W-ellll, it's not until the morning that her illusion fades away, and he wakes up to the sight of twin crescent shaped scars on her back. (;
Blue:: He kicks her out, and away.
Blue:: ...it's three years later that a young man delivers a baby in a basket to him.
Blue:: In front of the court.
Blue:: With the message "This is your child. You know who the mother is. Take care of it, or I'll tell everyone what happened."
Blue:: Soooo.
Blue:: Naturally he takes care of the baby, who actually turns out rather bright, and looks like he has the possibility to be a wonderful king.
Blue:: [so long as he grows wings]
Blue:: And, on top of that, it looks like Lithwaine doesn't have what it takes to be a mother.
Blue:: She's weak, thin, washed out, a bit distant - not what they expected her to be.
Leafy:: ah, I see
Blue:: she's been pregnant several times, but the babies keep dying.
Blue:: [we suspect Altair's hand in this]
Leafy:: hehe, yeah...
Leafy:: [ok. *is suspicious*]
Blue:: until Corbett's...around 10.
Blue:: and she *finally* gives birth to a [relatively] healthy baby, against all odds.
Blue:: It looks like her, pale and washed out and thin, and it has some health issues - but at least it's legitimate.
Leafy:: oooo ok
Blue:: Corbett is immediately shipped away, out of court and to the church to be trained in other fields.
Leafy:: eep
Blue:: So Corbin doesn't find out, a couple years later, that Corbett grows wings.
Leafy:: Ooooo
Blue:: yeah. -.-;
Leafy:: awesome
Blue:: So, Tumaire [the legitimate prince] is raised;
Blue:: in the court.
Leafy:: and doesn't grow wings/
Leafy:: ?
Blue:: While Altair disguises herself and sneaks in to train Corbett.
Leafy:: eeek!
Blue:: but no one else knows that.
Blue:: And, yeah.
Blue:: Tumaire hits puberty - and no wings.
Blue:: 12. No wings.
Leafy:: aie!
Blue:: 13. no wings.
Blue:: 14...he becomes ill, all of a sudden, and disappears from the public eye for a couple months.
Leafy:: O_O
Blue:: When he comes back out, he looks very ill, pale and skinny with shadows under his eyes, etc - but he has the most beautiful wings EVER.
Leafy:: eeeek, what did they do to him?!!?!?
Blue:: At some point, during these years, Corbett has disappeared;
Blue:: around when he turned 18, in fact.
Blue:: There were some small search groups, but no one REALLY looked.
Blue:: He's GONE. And, whatever, he was just a bastard, right?
Leafy:: yeah...
Blue:: welllll. Corbin puts out a call for the best doctors around.
Blue:: He wants someone who can keep a secret. someone discrete, who keeps out of sight and mind.
Blue:: A young man by the name of Raven arrives - he's quiet, with secretive eyes and has a hunchback. He seems perfect, is hired.
Leafy:: EEEEEEK!
Leafy:: they took his wings!!
Blue:: Naah. (:
Leafy:: eeek!
Blue:: That'd be scary, but they didn't.
Blue:: It's more fun this way. {:<
Blue:: He's personal assistant/doctor to Tumaire.
Blue:: They have to explain what they did:
Leafy:: oh
Blue:: Through a combination of blood magic and surgery, they managed to graft false wings onto the prince's spine.
Leafy:: oh
Blue:: so, um, okay. 1) blood magic --> HIGHLY ILLEGAL.
Blue:: 2) They're REALLY not supposed to make a fake heir.
Blue:: I mean, obviously this is bad.
Blue:: and Corbett knows about it.
Leafy:: *snickers*
Blue:: And he knows that this means he's the REAL HEIR. and that he should be king.
Leafy:: >)
Blue:: And he does still have his wings, though they're...a touch ruined.
Leafy:: why?
Leafy:: how?
Blue:: Broken/mangled. he can't fly, but he has them.
Leafy:: oh
Leafy:: cool'
Blue:: he hides them under clothing, for now pretending they're ahunchback [because everyone who has wings is supposed to be a priest except the king]
Blue:: So he has a moral dilema.
Leafy:: oo ok
Blue:: Let me slip into what happened to him, to explain.
Blue:: His mother --> EVIL.
Blue:: She decided that he was going to be king no matter what.
Blue:: And that she was going to be his advisor/confidant/the woman pul ling the strings.
Blue:: So she started, essentially, training him to obey her.
Leafy:: brainwashing... meep
Blue:: Kind of.
Blue:: I guess the best example is:
Blue:: every time helied to her, she broke one ofhis fingers.
Blue:: Yes, EVIL.
Blue:: [I love that so much. :D ]
Leafy:: ahhhhh!!
Leafy:: [me too, good touch]
Blue:: But he had to love her, too, because she was the only person who seemed to care about him.
Blue:: So he has this love/fear thing going on.
Leafy:: eeeeeek, I know what you mean.. have you read the Once and Future King?
Blue:: most of it.
Leafy:: it kinda has that going on with Morgause and her sons... :(
Blue:: hm. maybe.
Blue:: Well. When he turns seventeen, he finally decides he can't take it anymore; he tells her off, he threatens to leave, nasty names are spewed.
Blue:: He probably says something about her wings.
Leafy:: ooooo
Blue:: Suffice to say, she gets pissed.
Blue:: and, in retaliation, breaks his beyond repair.
Blue:: Oh, they're still THERE. He can still be king.
Blue:: But will he every disobey her again?
Blue:: ....yeah. -.-; he will. He runs away, toward the edge of the country.
Leafy:: yay raven
Blue:: is picked up by a physician, who teaches him how to do all that crap.
Leafy:: right
Blue:: and then it's...aaah. about 10 years, before he ends up in court.
Blue:: I guess Tumaire is 16, not fourteen. ::tries to remember::...I think that makes sense.
Blue:: So, here's his problem:
Blue:: 1) Tumaire is fake. He shouldn't be king because they broke laws to make him that way.
Leafy:: right.
Blue:: 2) Tumaire is a spoiled brat. He doesn't know what the common people are like. He doesn't know how the world really works. He'd be a TERRIBLE KING.
Blue:: 3) Corbett is real, he could be king.
Blue:: 4)....except he's still so terrified of his mother, if she showed up...he'd probably be wrapped around her little finger, and he'd do what she told him.
Leafy:: yieks
Blue:: 5) but he'd be a GOOD KING. he's smart, has some great ideas [like getting rid of the winged king idea, and separating church and state].
Blue:: 6) and if he spilled the beans, the people might be so angry that they would revolt.
Blue:: there. :D
Blue:: that about sums it up!
